Yolanda Gipson -Leadership Academy

Jackson Park steward Yolanda Gipson has been selected for the National Association of Letter Carrier's Leadership Academy. Ms. Gipson is the fifth member of Branch 11 to have been selected to participate in the intensive training, which helps develop the skills of future union leaders. Previous Branch 11 members to graduate from the leadership Academy are Branch 11 Officer and Loop Steward Stafford Price Jr. , who was a member of the first Leadership class in 2005; former Branch Officer and Region 3 RAA Mack Julion Sr. in 2006; Ravenswood Steward and State Officer Mike Caref in 2008; and Cesar Chavez steward and Step A advocate Elise Foster, who will complete her final week in December 2008. A U.S. Navy veteran, Yolanda will participate in the first class of 2009 which begins in January.

Ms. Gipson, who was elected steward at Jackson Park in 2006, was also an assistant steward at Chicago-Lawn station for three years. Like the other graduates, we are sure she will represent Branch 11 well.
